Christian Verginer

Bressanone, 1982

Christian Verginer is considered one of the most valid and original expressions in the nowadays sculpture carvings.
His training firstly took place attending the sculpture department of the art school of Ortisei, and then continued studying sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara.
The subject chosen by the sculptor is the human figure , or rather , the human figure in its relations with other forms of life , with animals, nature , trees, or with various objects of the world.
The material used is limetree wood, which is left mostly hairless and covered in some details by brilliant and unexpected acrylic.
The titles of the works are funny and ironic. From the long and high tradition of the Dolomites he maintained just the loyalty to the skill , and the precision, resulting from a dexterity trained in the study and the workings , but for the rest everything is modern, new and personal.
